In the years following 9/11 and right up to the present day, the world has experienced perpetual global conflict characterized by a Manichean vision: good versus evil, light versus darkness. In Samuel P. Huntington's seminal work, The Clash of Civilizations, this turmoil is explained as the inevitable result of civilizational struggle.
