In this first installment of the Witch's Tarot trilogy, in a world quite like our own, Dr. Gerard, the head of the Navea Dwighton Asylum for the Mentally Afflicted, discovers that one of his patients has disappeared under some very unnatural circumstances. A lengthy letter, later found in the patient's room, addressed to Dr. Gerard only, seems to be just as mysterious as the patient's disappearance. Reluctantly, the doctor begins to read the strange letter that develops into a tale, from decades before, that is as enticing as it is frightening.
