Oliver and Willow Cornflower spend each summer school break with their grandfather at his house in the Sentinel Forest. Shortly after arriving, their grandfather disappears. To search for him, they must enter the forbidden land of the Shrouding where they will encounter a world they did not know existed: gants, gnashers, opscheploopers, ippins, wizards, and dragons. Oliver and Willow, with friends, Barek, Windy, Josh, Crobar, Mark, and Alice discover their own emerging strengths, which will be needed to defeat the threat of Drahkir.
The Black Dome is the first book of The Edge of the Sentinel Series. The title of the series, "The Edge of the Sentinel," refers to the location of Granpa's house and the locations of several key components that will be of importance in the final battle against Drahkir Foxglove to ensure the safety of the fire stored in the vessel hidden beneath the mountains of Requiem Rock.
