[Stephanus - A Figure Without a Face. Reader-Response Hermeneutical Studies on a Theological Figure]§The primary focus of this study is on Stephanus the Judean who believed in Christ and was finally stoned to death. His identity and character is not revealed by the biblical text. Stephanus remains a figure hidden in the undetermined, without a face. But it is just this undeterminedness that opens new ways of understanding of the text. This practical-theological study opens up a interdisciplinary discussion in a cultural science perspective. It is also a reference book for folkloristics, religious studies, science of art, musicology and literary studies.
