Author Sturtevant's Maine family has treasured a seven-generation love affair with scenic Weld, Maine. This gem of a town includes a large mirror-like body of water, Lake Webb, reflecting a surrounding crown of gorgeous foothills and mountains in Maine's Longfellow Range. In conjunction with the little town's 2016 bicentennial-year celebration, Sturtevant tells his family's tale of being part of Weld's history for well over half of its two-hundred-year span. His forebears were among the first so-called rusticators who discovered the beauty of Weld, a peaceful place to experience respite from cares of the fast-moving world of America's industrial revolution at the turn of the nineteenth to twentieth centuries. The megarich chose Bar Harbor but made the mistake of taking their lavish lifestyle with them. The wiser common man chose a simple, rough cabin at a place less travelled on the frontier of man's earthly journey. Romancing Weld contains scores of full-page framable colored scenic photographs that give abundant proof of Weld's enchanting beauty. Indeed, as the author proclaims, "Once seen, who can resist her?" These stunning views sure seem to inspire more Weld lovers ("Hopefully, not so many as to spoil her!" adds the author).
