Diverse landscape of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force stands as the primary shield between order and chaos. From the bustling streets of Lagos to the challenging terrains of North-Western Nigeria, these officers are tasked with an enormous burden: maintaining peace in an era of unprecedented security challenges. However, while we often focus on the external threats these officers face (such as banditry, kidnapping, and violent crime), an internal, silent enemy is claiming lives and diminishing the effectiveness of the force. This enemy is the rise of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).This book is born out of a year-long investigation in Sokoto State. It moves beyond mere statistics to tell the story of the metabolic and behavioral risks stalking our men and women in uniform. By adopting the WHO STEPwise approach, this work provides a scientific roadmap for policy changes that can save lives, reduce the economic burden of chronic illness, and ensure that those who protect us are healthy enough to do so.
