It began with a Magical Dream that became a desperate reality...
Able to stave off Brutessa's ferocious attacks, a depleted Heather and her Loyalist companions desperately attempt a daring cross-city getaway, with the Sorceress Rendskorra of SpringShoot Green now joining forces with her malevolent Sister to pursue the fleeing fugitives. With Rendskorra's help, the pair of Dark enchantresses conjure up even more deadly SkullSnipers, sending them to fill the SummersBreath Stillian skies in search of the elusive Loyalists.
Meanwhile, managing to evade capture, forced to trust in a street-wary guide to assist them, Heather and her accomplices attempt to escape across a highly unstable, explosive-rigged Windward Canal Bridge and into the uncharted desert highlands. But when Brutessa and the Darkly Influenced learn of their adversaries' intended destination, they prepare a brilliantly conceived plan: to have legions of Brutessa's PurpleSuit warriors and Empress Insensatia's very own Crown soldiers positioned in secretive readiness to obliterate the green-eyed Maiden and her renegade group upon arrival. Yet, when events don't go as plotted for the villainess Brutessa, she once again takes to the sky, arriving on the battlefield to personally accomplish the task in the Darkly magical form of her winged, dragon-inspired warhorse.
Back in the Spring Shootarian city of WilderGate, Heather's best friend Molly Pringle is subjected to increasingly frequent soul-bleeds when her small waterfront jewelry shop gallery is burgled in the night, her thuggish boss StreetWise blaming her for the heist. Despite Molly's protestations to the contrary, as punishment, the romantically-spurned hoodlum conspires with the influential Officer Reppree of the Bleed Police to torture the attractive TeenYear all the more. With Molly's very life in jeopardy, she is unable to see her way clear with her soul, mind, and body under the continual strain of deterioration. Yet, when her bleeds dangerously persist, an ever-weakening and frail Molly must quickly devise a plan of escape.
Will Heather and Molly be able to survive their perilous ordeals and encounters? Will they reunite with one another - along with Mrs. Pringle, Sheriff Dane, and perhaps Grandma Dawn - and return to Noble's Earthly Bristol House once more? Or will they be destined to live out their lives on separate Evermorian planet kingdoms while on ever-divergent paths? And during the depths of their Darkest and most harrowing hours, will they again be aided by unexpected Loyalists and KAusists, Maidens and Archmounts, the daring young Starbrill or his many rebellious imitators, or possibly by Evermore's own secretive ClearWeave? Or perhaps Heather's occasional BodyMate, Lunaria, will put in a timely appearance, the iMagiNacia-practicing SoulSylph who is intrinsically entwined in the fabric of all living things.
And, above all, is Heather truly the green-eyed Maiden of the Evermore Portent - MaidenLore's Astille Lia Staleen DiYoh - or just another wannabe Nearling who impressively rises up, only to be horrifically snuffed out by the Realm's Sorceress Sisters and the Dahklarr Herth? And if she is indeed the chosen One, under Heather's leadership, will Evermore and its Maidens rise up in the Light to greet the New Dawn of the Golden Reclamation as foretold by the Portent Prophesies? Or will the magical Realm and its inhabitants forever succumb to the pervasively Dark, rapacious, and self-serving Influence of the Dahklarr Herth?
MaidenHeart Destiny, the third book in The Ruins of Evermore series, holds all the revelatory insights, secrets, and answers. And a whole lot more.
