1851. After spending his early years as an actor, Munday turned to writing. His literary output includes a number of plays (John a Kent and John a Cumber, two on the legend of Robin Hood, The Downfall and Death of Robert and Earl of Huntington), poems, pageants, several anti-Catholic pamphlets, and translations of popular French romances (including Amadis de Gaul). John a Kent and John a Cumber is considered to have parallels to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
