Atop the tree, in the city of Rueb, the children are pawns in the twisted games of the Duchess and Charles Van Kronos. When the children finally escape, they're separated, renamed, and try to lead a normal life. But one of them kills the Duchess, and when Charles is unexpectedly released, he vows to find his children and kill them all.

Edgar hides a diamond in one of the rooms of the Hotel Tremond. He has secrets of his own, and his family scrambles to find the diamond before they have nothing left. Nia and a mysterious hotel guest are among the many searching for it. She seeks the help of Blue, also known as the Phantom of Rueb.
The Owl, an assassin, keeps the world at peace, even if it means killing the innocent tied to his targets. Meanwhile, a sadistic hunter named Occam hunts people for the wealthy, who cannot stand whoever they are tied to affecting their lives in any way.
