HIV/AIDS has become an increasing global phenomenon and resulted in an anormous human suffering.It was primarily regarded as a health issue,but it has become a debilitating force affecting all social and economic aspects of human life reversing the economic development of countries.Despite advances in scientific ,understanding of HIV ,its prevention and treatment many people are still infected by HIV.This is due to ,that they do not have access to prevention ,care and treatment. Therefore oral health care personnel should pay special attention to oral mucosal lesions seen in their patients. It has been well documented that the oral lesions in HIV positive patients may . Be the first sign of underlying HIV infection whose HIV status may not be poknown at the time of examination. Serve as a potential clinical markers of the disease progression in those who are HIV positive serve as AIDS defining lesions .Therefore dental practitioners should anticipate that HIV infected patients will seek care either for their routine dental concerns or conditions associated with their underlying disease
