It tells of the hardships, trials and tribulations of raising a family of fifteen children on a mountain farm and the small income from a sawmill. It tells of the twenty eight year illness of her husband, how she fed him every meal and took care of his daily needs. It tells of the death of four of their children and the attachment Doreen had to her mountain home in spite of the hardships. Four generations of women wanting their life different, yet it sayed the same.
