This text describes the design, development and deployment of an interactive mobile application for engineering education - CUVLAB. The Covenant University Virtual Laboratory (CUVLAB) project was conceived as a response to the need for mobile simulated laboratories to supplement hardware and software laboratory sessions in undergraduate engineering courses. Background studies conducted on virtual and remote laboratories and the motivation for this project are presented. In addition, current challenges facing practical engineering education especially in developing countries are explored. The aim and objectives of the project are stated in addition to the methodology employed in developing the prototype mobile app. The contributions of this work are also stated in this introductory chapter
