This book describes the global demographics of centenarians through discussing the compression of morbidity hypotheses, as well as the role of genetics, epigenetics and environmental factors in the extreme limits of human lifespan. It examines all domains of health and well-being of this elite group including physical function, the concept of frailty and resilience, and the prevalence and incidence of major diseases. It also examines the attitudes, preferences and psychosocial factors associated with an extended life span. One of the chapters has been dedicated to expert survivors, also known as the super-centenarians, persons over the age of 110, which examines factors associated with a marked delay in disease expression.
