The invitation from God for salvation in Jesus Christ is to come as you are. We do not clean ourselves up before we come to Christ. There is no deed that we can do to earn salvation. The Bible is clear: there is no other way, and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved!
Yet after we commit our lives to God, Romans 8:15-16 and Romans 2:6-8 explain that we are not to remain as we are. Believing in God is not simply an acknowledgement of His existence, but a committed lifestyle to doing His will. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins on the cross with His sacrificial blood with the expectation that we have a purpose to fulfill, which can only be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us.
