The morphological characterization and pathological aspects of cell receptors are reviewed in up-to-date contributions by international experts. Precise understanding of receptor functions in cellular physiology and pathology is of increasing importance, since new therapeutical measures interfering directly with receptor or postreceptor processes could become relevant.
