Ranging from acrylic canvas wall pieces and large-scale photo collages, to paintings and installations, Amanda Ross-Ho's work can be understood as a series of gestures in which objects and images are gathered and transformed into photographs, sculptures, and installations. This volume coincides with an exhibition of Ross-Ho's work at MOCA and acts as an index of her production. It offers the complex visions of an artist fascinated with the practice of making art, and consistently attuned to the traces of her own movements - whether a brush stroke on the wall or the way photographs are collaged onto a page. An essay by curator Rebecca Morse discusses how and why Ross-Ho's work, which is intrinsically self-reflective and layered with meaning, fosters such a sense of connectivity in her audience.
