Some books are written from imagination. This one was dragged out of lived experience.
These poems were born on cold floors, in hospital waiting rooms, at bus stops, in recovery meetings, in quiet kitchens, and during long walks home. They carry the weight of addiction, homelessness, trauma, fatherhood, recovery, faith, forgiveness, and the stubborn belief that people can change.
They aren't written to impress. They're written to connect.
Some will make you laugh. Some might make you uncomfortable. Some may remind you of someone you love. Others may remind you of yourself.
If you've ever felt broken, overlooked, ashamed, or like the world had already decided who you were, I hope you find something of yourself in these pages.
Because none of us are just the worst thing we've ever done.
We're every road we've ever walked...
and every step we've chosen to take since.
Welcome. I hope these poems find you exactly when you need them.
