Early Christian Latin Poets

Carolinne White seeks to address the general neglect of early Christian Latin poetry in her translation of selected poems ranging from the 4th to 6th century AD. These poems are placed in their literary and historical context, discussing aspects of form, content, motivations for their writing, the continuance of Classical traditions and their influence on later Medieval literature. Includes poems by: Lacantius, Juvencus, Proba, Damasus, Ambrose, Augustine, Paulinus of Nola, Endelechius, Prudentius, Cyrian the Poet, Sedulius, Prosper of Aquitaine, Claudius Marius Victorius, Paulinus of Pella, De Ligno Crucis, Orientius, Dracontius, Avitus and Venantius Fortunatus.
